- The open-plan dome area has a small fridge, a gas oven, AC unit and basic kitchenware. - Be aware that there is no separate bedroom and that the sleeping area is in the same room as the kitchen and the living area. 'Studio style' - There are open clothes rails but not much storage area. But enough for the basic belongings that are needed during your stay. - The space is ideal for a remote worker looking for peace, silence and nature. Or ideal for a temporary stay while you are scouting the area to find your own property. - Does not include internet but the mobile reception in the dome is very good and if you use your phone to hotspot data it is perfectly possible to work online. I personally worked there for one full year doing video editing so sharing huge files on phone hotspot connection to my laptop using Vodafone. - There is a petrol generator and an AC unit to reduce the temperature during the hot summer days - Diesel heater (we don't recommend using this longer than 1 hour in the mornings, or 2-3 hours at night) - Woodburner is the mst effective way to keep the dome warm as the diesel heater can run down the batteries quickly in the darker (less solar power) winter months - We provide 25 instructional video shorts that show any new visitor exactly how to make everything work. Our neighbour also looks after the dome for us and is often around to assist with any issues. Our dome is the perfect place for people interested in off-grid adventures who are looking for a remote experience for mental relaxation, being around nature, far away from civilization. In an off-grid setting you must be flexible with sometimes the challenges of off-grid living. This can include dealing with emptying a toilet once per month or at the end of your stay. This is normal of course for campervan or motorhome adventures, but if you have not done it before it is something to research first because it is part of staying there. It is also worth mentioning that it is quite normal to need to use a petrol generator there, either to top up the Bluetti for work, or AC - We used that often last summer to run the mini AC unit there, but recommend hanging out at nearby river beaches on very hot days to avoid wasting a lot of fuel trying to cool down the dome space. I used to sit in front of the AC running on the generator when I would need to work though - very effective to stay cool if you need to use it.

Remote location! ... Only for adventurous people ;) The dome is about 10 minute out of from Coja There are a lot of outdoor activities in the region and many interesting cultural and historical places to visit. You can go kayaking, horse riding, climbing, swimming, hiking and many more... such a skiing or snowboarding in the winter months. You can easily find markets, supermarkets, restaurants, bars, tourist center, medical center and many other facilities... In approximately 1 hour drive you are at the top of the Serra da Estrela mountain where you have the most amazing views! On the way up you can enjoy a refreshing pause at the lakes, rivers and waterfalls. Stunning views 450m above sea level halfway up the mountain towards Monte Frio, from Coja direction, above Vinho and Vila Cova de Alva. A vehicle is essential to reach surrounding activities such as River Beaches or Yoga. You are about an hour drive from snowboarding in Serra de estrelas, or similar drive to Figueira da Foz and the beach.

Location

Mountain
- 10 minute drive Coja - 20min Tabua - 20min Oliveira do Hospital - 40 min Seia The land is privately located between 4 little traditional villages where you can enjoy the daily Portuguese life. Each village has a local café, a tiny grocery shop with some basics and a historical center to have a peaceful walk. Important! Be aware that the closest access is along a almost 1km dirt track that separates us from the outside world. The access is quite good, we used a normal citroen hatchback through the summer and winter conditions. A normal car is fine, although a little bit bumpy here and there... The tracks can get a bit muddy in rainy or winter periods so a little bit of an adventurous mindset and some driving skills are required to stay here over winter. The dry parts of the year it can be a bit dusty to drive there so closing your windows on the tracks is a good idea. Most Important! Having your own transport is required as relying on public transport is not an option here! If you don't have a car or campervan it will be quite difficult to rent it to you. Motorbike doesn't really work, as sometimes you will need to empty the chemical loo at the local point in Barril or Tabua,or pick up heavy items such as new gas. WARNING If you drive a long wheel base motorhome that is either quite low to the ground or has a long distance from the back wheels to the rear bumper you may need to be extremely cautious about driving up out track from the main track. It is possible however to park down there and walk up. The road is very wide. You will be able to see where you're parked from the dome. Sprinters/Crafters/Dailys are all fine with no problems.

Conditions

Minimum stay of 3 nights. As we are recovering and bouncing back from the recent natural disasters to hit Portugal in the past 6 months including storm Kristen, your enjoyment and stay will be considered a donation towards this process. You must have a vehicle to stay at this location. It is essential for many reasons, not least the lack of public transport. Taxi's are available from the track, but you should not rely on them solely and they only run up to 9pm. With the wildlife in the area by night, such as wild boar, you will definitely need a vehicle come and go. The way we have decided to operate staying at the dome is preferably by weekly rolling or monthly rolling using docusign.
