Quinta Destilaria

Space, peace and joy in Central Portugal. Quinta Destilaria is a converted farmhouse dating from 1900, located on the outskirts of the beautiful town of Lousã, in Central Portugal. Lousã is a small town with beautiful old buildings (including the church and town hall), various shops, many cozy restaurants, pastelarias, supermarkets, a swimming pool and a (covered) market where local farmers sell their crops. In the hills of Serra da Lousã one will find beautiful slate villages (Aldeias do Xisto), an old castle (Castelo de Arouce), a place of pilgrimage (Ermidas da Sra da Piedade) and a natural swimming pool (Praia Fluvial).

Quinta Destilaria is a converted farmhouse dating back to 1900 which belongs to the De Matos family. Originally this farm was one of the most important food markets in the region, and was particularly known for the production of Aguardente (a type of gin), to which the farm has derived its name. Quinta Destilaria has been converted into a beautiful holiday home, where the old characteristics of the house have been preserved, but adapted to modern times. This two-story house has four bedrooms on the upper floor: three bedrooms with double beds and one bedroom with two beds, a cot is also available. One of the bedrooms is adjacent to the beautiful conservatory overlooking the hills of Serra da Lousã. On the same floor there is also two modern bathrooms, equipped with a shower, sink, toilet and underfloor heating. One of the bathrooms has a bathtub. On the ground floor you will find a beautiful open and bright living room with a modern kitchen (all appliances, dishes, cookware, kitchen linen etc are available), large sofa, TV and DVD player (many DVDs available), WiFi, spacious dining room and a laundry room with toilet, sink and washing machine. The ground floor is equipped with underfloor heating, which makes this house also very comfortable in the colder months. Quinta Destilaria is surrounded by a wonderful garden with olive and fruit trees. Elements such as the old well with zinc buckets and the outbuildings where Aquardente Vinicola was made, bring back the old times. The garden is a great place for a delicious BBQ with Portuguese sardines and Vinho Verde, around the large picnic table. Meanwhile, refresh yourself in the paddling pool or just relax in the hammock between the olive trees. Quinta Destilaria is located just outside the town of Lousã, with lovely views over the hills of Serra da Lousã. The center of the town is only a five minute ride on the grandma bike, where you will find good quality restaurants, cafés, bakeries (pastelarias), various shops, supermarkets and a (covered) market where fish, meat, bread, fruit and vegetables are sold by local farmers. Quinta Destilaria can accommodate up to eight people. Nevertheless, it is extremely suitable for smaller groups. Even if you're travelling alone or with your partner, this house will offer you the comfort and coziness that you are looking for.

Lousã lies at the foot of the hills of Serra da Lousã. It's a small town with beautiful old buildings (a church and the city council, among others), various shops, good quality restaurants, bakeries, supermarkets, a swimming pool and a (covered) market where local farmers sell their harvest. In the hills of Serra da Lousã one will come across beautiful slate villages (Aldeias do Xisto), an old castle (Castelo de Arouce), a pilgrimage route (Ermidas Sra. da Piedade) and a natural swimming pool (Praia Fluvial). The student city of Coimbra is a half hour ride from Lousã.

It's a very cozy, bright and comfortable house with great views over Serra da Lousã. The house is fully equipped and there's a lot of privacy. Nearby the centre of Lousã. Pets are very welcome.
