Outdoor ActivitiesRiver BeachesToursLess than two minutes from the house, there is a spring in the village where you can get drinking water. (The tap water is chlorinated to varying degrees throughout Portugal but is drinkable).
A flock of sheep passes by the house in the mornings and evenings. There is no traffic except for a few neighbours who drive by every now and then and maybe a tractor.
In the village there's a café with an integrated shop, where you can not only get the bacalhau (salted cod) that is widespread in Portugal, but also buy wine, water, cheese and beer, among other things. Or you can stop by for a coffee. The "Meia de Leite" (espresso with milk, in a ratio of 1:1) or the "Pingado" (espresso with only two or three drops of milk) is highly recommended, preferably with a "pastei de nata", the delicious puff pastry tartlets with pudding.
Location
CountrysideVillageTábua (3km)
Small town with all amenities, including supermarkets, indoor- and outdoor-pools, restaurants and cafés, health facilities, public transport, etc.
Coja (11km)
The small town of Coja is located on the river Alva and not only offers beautiful bathing opportunities, but also a town center worth seeing. Every third Saturday of the month there is a large flea and arts and crafts market that is international. Lots of hippies.
Coimbra (62km), the country's former capital, is definitely worth a visit, if only for its well-preserved medieval old town and the baroque library, (Biblioteca Joanina), housed in the historic university, on the site of a former palace was built.
Viseu (60km), a city steeped in history, lies on the Rio Pavia. The Romans were there - various milestones of the crossing Roman roads survive to this day throughout the area - then came the Visigoths and then the Moors (early 8th century). In the course of the Reconquista, the region was reconquered by the Arabs in 1057.
Serra da Estrela (30km)
With an area of around 1000 km², the Parque Natural da Serra da Estrela covers almost the entire massif of the highest mountain range on mainland Portugal, making it the largest nature reserve in the country. The natural waterfalls of Poço da Broca (28 km), Vide (32 km), Poço da Broca do Muro (32 km), Fraga da Pena (25 km) and Poço Fundeiro (32 km), can be reached in 45 minutes via partial though winding roads, but very easy to reach.
The picturesque town of Seia, in the Estrela mountains, can be reached in just under 40 minutes (35km away)
