Less than two minutes from the house, there is a spring in the village where you can get drinking water. (The tap water is chlorinated to varying degrees throughout Portugal but is drinkable). A flock of sheep passes by the house in the mornings and evenings. There is no traffic except for a few neighbours who drive by every now and then and maybe a tractor. In the village there's a café with an integrated shop, where you can not only get the bacalhau (salted cod) that is widespread in Portugal, but also buy wine, water, cheese and beer, among other things. Or you can stop by for a coffee. The "Meia de Leite" (espresso with milk, in a ratio of 1:1) or the "Pingado" (espresso with only two or three drops of milk) is highly recommended, preferably with a "pastei de nata", the delicious puff pastry tartlets with pudding.
