A one bedroom self-catering apartment for two people situated on the ground floor of the owners’ house , completely separate and independent. Guests have the use of the beautiful eco/bio natural swimming pool and can enjoy the lush tropical gardens. It is situated in a small hamlet five minutes drive from the centre of the town of Avelar and within ten minutes of the larger town of Ansião in Central Portugal. Due to our rural position a car is essential to visit this part of Portugal, with off-road car parking available at the property

Our lovely, modern self-catering apartment sleeps two people. The comfortable bedroom has a king size bed, bedside tables with lights, wardrobe, chest of drawers, mirror, hairdryer and a fan. All bed linen and towels are supplied, including pool towels. The well-equipped kitchen area has everything you need to prepare meals during your stay. This includes an oven and 4 ring hob with extractor, sink, microwave, kettle, toaster, Dulce Gusto coffee machine, full size under-counter fridge with ice box (if guests want to store a larger amount of frozen food, hosts are happy to arrange this in a separate freezer.) It is also has crockery, cutlery, pans and plenty of other necessary cooking equipment. There is a sofa, armchair, smart TV (with MEO Portuguese TV) and DVD player with a large selection of DVD's and table and chairs for dining. Outside there is a shady relaxation area with sofas, an eating area and BBQ for sole use of guests. There are also comfortable wooden sun loungers by the pool. The apartment is private from the main house and has its own entrance and access to the beautiful swimming pool area. The eco/bio pool is cleaned by the action of the plants within it and does not have any chemicals added to the soft, natural water. It is a bit like swimming in a lake or river and is not a traditional blue box! There is wildlife living in and around the pool including tadpoles, frogs, toads, newts and dragonflies, but they stay out of the swimming part amongst the plants most of the time and are of course not at all dangerous! There is high-speed internet at the property.

Situated right in the centre of Portugal one and a half hours drive from both Lisbon and Porto and the international airports in each city. The beautiful medieval cities of Coimbra and Tomar with their historic attractions, are an easy 30 minute drive away. The religious City of Fatima is 50 minutes. Many beautiful Atlantic coastal towns such as Nazare (famous for its massive surfing waves) are an hour’s drive. Close by there's several natural river beaches which are suitable for swimming and many have cafes and toilet facilities. The stunning river beach and beautiful schist village of Sao Simao is only 10 minutes away. Horse riding, hiking, kayaking, river trips and spa days are all available locally and can be arranged.

For holiday rentals: • From 1st May to 31st October. €70 per night for two people self-catering. • Minimum 3 night stay in May, June, September & October • Minimum 4 night stay in July & August. Pets and children under 12 years old are not permitted (includes babies and toddlers) Guests have sole use of the swimming pool. The owners may be seen around the grounds but their presence will always be discrete.
