Nazaré is a popular beach resort. It is also famous for extreme surfing. The largest wave in the world was surfed here in 2011, since then it has become a legendary surf spot over the winter months.
The house is located in a quiet residential area just minutes on foot away from Sitio, North Beach and the funicular which takes you down to the main Nazaré beach or alternatively there also gently meandering steps down to the beach so there is no need for a car and there is free parking just outside the house.
We have three bedrooms available to rent.
Laranja - double with balcony and sea views
Limao - double with private roof terrace overlooking a small farm
Lima - twin with 2 single beds and balcony with sea views
There is one shared bathroom upstairs between the 3 rooms but an additional bathroom downstairs which guests use when all the rooms are occupied.
The house has recently been renovated so it is light and airy and very colourful! We live here in an apartment in the basement with our two friendly dogs so are always on hand should you need anything.
There are new double glazed windows and doors throughout Keeping the house cool during the summer and warm during the winter.
If you are staying for more than a week we are happy for you to share the living/dining/kitchen space with us. In the same open area there is a large sofa and armchairs and TV and pellet burner for the colder winter months.
We have a large dining table where we serve breakfast. There are double doors out into the decked garden area where there is also a table and chairs should you rather sit outside.
We have in our entrance room 2 large desks and a printer plus books, games and dvd's which you are welcome to borrow. There is good wi-fi throughout.
All bedding and towels are provided, as are toiletries and a hairdryer.
We grow our own vegetables/fruit during the summer (chemical free) which are available for guests to eat.

The house is in a quiet residential area yet just minutes walk away from Sitio (the lively cliff top part of Nazaré, and just 10 minutes walk down to the wild and unspoilt Praia do Norte (North Beach) and the Farol/Fort/Lighthouse which has a small museum worth visiting (cost €1). This is where the footage of the big wave surfing is often filmed from.
There are a lot of things to see and do in this area. Sitio, the old cliff top village is 10 minutes walk away and there are plenty of restaurants and cafes to choose from.
From Sitio there is the lift down to the main town of Nazaré and Praia do Nazaré where there are lots of restaurants, cafes and shops to explore and where the swimming is safest.
En route to Praia do Norte there is Norpark Water park which is open from June till September.
We can arrange private or small group surf lessons, horse riding on the beach and point you in the right direction for any other activities. We have a selection of tourist information available.
We are as close as you can get to North beach where the biggest waves in the world can be seen. It is a quiet residential location, bordered by coniferous woods and a deer park nearby.
Nazare is 1 hr and 12 minutes drive from Lisbon airport. Alternatively you ran take the bus from Lisbon (1 hr 50 minutes) from Sete Rios bus station (either take the metro from the airport or a taxi - approx €10) and the cost of the bus is under €15 one way. I am happy to pick up/drop off at the bus station for no extra cost. There is also a bus from Porto - for more information on bus timetables search for Rede Expressos.
We have a welcome pack with lots of information of things to see and do in the area, including historical sites, children's activities, water sports, markets and recommendations of restaurants from previous guests.
People have described our house as 'home from home'. We like our guests to feel comfortable and be able to relax and therefore do our utmost to make people feel at lease and welcome on arrival and for the length of their stay.
We have 2 friendly, loveable dogs which almost everyone falls in love with! (especially the children) Olive and Poppy.
The house is colourful, light and arty. An eclectic mix of styles and originality.
We used to run an off grid glamping site so have been working in the hospitality industry for some time. We love meeting people from all over the world.
We provide a hearty breakfast which includes fruit, cereals, (our own chemical free tomatoes and berries - in season), yoghurt, bread and pastries, charcuterie along with a choice of different teas, coffee, hot chocolate and juice. We can accommodate vegan, vegetarian and wheat free/dairy free diets on request.
Prices for rooms vary depending on the time of year. Discounts are available if all rooms are booked together and for longer stays. Email for further information as this depends on availability.

We have very few house rules:
No smoking in the rooms,
Be considerate of noise after 10pm
Check in from 15:00 hrs (earlier/later on request)
