Cute Apartment with Small Garden

Beautiful 1 bedroom fully equipped apartment with sofabed for an extra guest for rent in sunny rural Alentejo within the Sao Mamede National Park. Located within a small village on a mountainous mastiff where you can see the most spectacular sunsets and vistas onto the plains below. An abundance of walks, wildlife, rivers, lakes, tradition, roman, medieval, neolithic and ancient are to be experienced all over this area. Available for rent minimum 3 days, weekly, monthly, includes water, gas and electrics apart from internet. We have a small garden at the back for taking in the sun, reading or having a BBQ. Sorry strictly no pets.

The apartment was recently renovated and all appliances are new. Gas oven, electric water heater and oil filled radiator for cool days and large nebulizer fans for hot days. The apartment has a new insulated roof, thick walls and a front and back door that leads to a small garden. There is parking at the front and many fantastic walking trails, rivers and a nearby river beach, lakes for swimming, horse riding, bird watching, archeaological sites, standing stones, ancient caves and neolithic painting, museums, wine tasting, walks, castles and incredible vistas on this high ridge in Alentejo. The owners live next door and are a wealth of knowledge for anyone seeking more information on life in Portugal. Whether you're thinking of moving to Portugal or fancy getting a feel for this beautiful green area or to simply relax this area brings many wonderful things.

The apartment is set within the upper area of the village which has a small square with parking and some other houses, a medieval archway and an entrance to the back of the apartment leading to the back door and garden where it is more secluded. You can walk 1km to a picnic area and lookout point to see the incredible vistas or simply walk to the car parking area to see them too. In and around the immediate village there are cobbled streets, traditional homes, many trees such as cork oaks, holm oaks, olive trees, pines and much wildlife and smallholdings. There is a small local shop with a tiny cafe/bar and another 2 cafes and a traditional restaurant in the village. Several walking trails can be found on the periphery of the village.

The village is located within the Serra da São Mamede national park (Alentejo). With incredible views, walking trails, flora and fauna and roman, medieval and megalithic history. You can canoe, hire kayaks 15mins away, horse riding is 20 mins away, you can mountain bike in many many areas, cyclists are always around and hiking/walking can begin on the doorstep or further afield on walking tours or walking routes. For bird watchers there is a plethora of birds all year round so bring binoculars, regularly raptors fly over the apartment/village. Cave paintings can be found within a 20min drive away. There are a number of ancient castles and buildings within several neighbouring villages all less than 30mins away and a thermal spa around another 30mins away.

The apartment is family run and situated next door to the family home...therefore the owners are on hand to help with any queries or questions.

*Regretfully pets are not accepted. *The sofa bed in the living/kitchen area would suit an extra guest but as there is only 1 bathroom more than 3 people we feel is too much. *Please leave the apartment as you found it and report any breaks or damages, small items broken are no issue but please let the owners know. *Please be considerate and take any rubbish and recycling with you, there are plenty bins in the village for your convenience. *Sorry no parties allowed as such. *Leave bedding in place and towels in the bathroom thankyou. *A deposit of €200 is required for short term rentals to secure a booking and as a security on any damages or lost keys and breakages, this is fully refunded at the end of the stay if all is as was originally. *As visitor's needs vary hugely we can help with any internet requirements.
