We are an international couple in our 60s, both fluent in Portuguese, who know the region well. We run an organic farm and farm training school and visitors are welcome to join in the farming life and work as well in exchange for taking vegetables and fruit from the garden. We have a large water tank which can also be used for bathing. There is plenty of parking. We will consider pets and children on a case by case basis. Smoking only outdoors.
We are involved on a national level in the conservation and restoration of nature and practice yoga and meditation. You are welcome to partake with us in these practices. We participate in a local farmers market and have strong ties to the local community. Our farm is ideal for anyone wanting to transition to the country and that wants to learn how to manage a market garden.
The apartment is also ideal for someone that wants quiet and/or who wants to be part of a community when they want company and to have their own space when they want solitude and privacy. We generally have communal lunches every day (anyone and everyone is welcome). For Loft guests there would be a small contribution for joining to cover costs.

One lake is 3km away and within walking distance and the other is 6km away (and is famous for its water-skiing and wake-boarding). We are 5 km from the center of Tomar and 3 km from the local supermarket. We are very centrally located and Tomar has train services to Lisbon and Coimbra and is 50 minutes from Nazaré beach.

CountrysideVillageTomar is famous as a unspoiled and authentic town that stills reflects the traditional Portuguese way of life. it is also famous for its convent and Templar castle and was the last headquarters of the Templar Order. It is also famous for its river beaches and the 70km lake that is referred to as Castello de Bode or the Zezere Lake. It is a region of gastronomy and wine as well as of limestone grottos and caves. The Camino de Santiago passes through the town and many hiking trails pass through or nearby. It is also an area famed for the Lusitania horse with the annual festival in November in Golega.

So we are a laboratory to learn and to make mistakes and to discover nature. We receive volunteers that come to learn form and with us and we try to give them as much exposure to Portuguese culture as possible. We are active locally with other organic farmers in trying to raise the level of consciousness about ecology and best practices around the care of nature. We recycle and try to live consciously in our consumption and practices.
Conditions
Monthly rate: €1010 per month. Includes, energy, high speed wifi, water, sheets, towels (changed weekly) and for monthly rents a cleaning once a week of 2 hours. Wood for barbecue charged extra (5 euros per barbecue).

We require a deposit of 3 months rent to cover damages and that tenants have insurance for 3rd party damages.
Longer term rentals will need to sign a contract.
Pets only by prior agreement.
Refunds are not given unless with 4 weeks prior notice. We ask tenants ot practice a no-shoes-inside policy if they are happy with that and to use energy and water conservatively at their discretion.
