It became the seat of the municipality in 1512 but its origins date back to prehistoric times, as you can see when you visit the ruins of Miróbriga. Rich in historical, archaeological and natural heritage, it is a city with many nooks and crannies to discover, from the castle to the several beautiful gardens where diversity reigns.
There's different walking paths that depart or going through Santiago, that's also part of "Camiños de Santigo" route.
The town also has a traditional market, museums, a library, two beautiful swimming pools, restaurants, several shops, a cinema/theatre and much more to explore.
It's a 15-minute drive from the house to the nearest beach. An expanse of sand and sea that stretches for kilometres along a coastline of unrivalled beauty.
Porto Covo, one of the best-known holiday villages in the area, is 25 minutes away and between Santiago and the famous town there are countless beaches along the sea line, some more open, others more secluded, offering a rare diversity within a radius of a few kilometres.
